Housing Options

All undergraduate full-time students are required to live on campus for the first two years of study, but many older students also live at Saint Louis University. Living on campus gives you easy access to all that SLU has to offer, including dining and academic assistance.

First-year Students

You’re brand new to SLU and it might be your first experience living away from family. The prospect of living in community with your classmates could be a little intimidating at first, but the residence halls that are home to most of our first-year students are designed specifically to make you feel at ease and prepared to succeed both socially and in the classroom.

More than 90% of Saint Louis University first-year students live in one of six residence halls:

About half of these first-year students sign up to live in a learning community, a supportive group of fellow students with common academic interests who share many of the same classes for their first year at SLU, which can be a great source of support and advice as you navigate similar challenges. Other students find that the shared concerns and interests of theme housing, which does not have any associated coursework requirements, enhances their sense of community.

The staff in these residence halls are specially trained to help promote a sense of community and learning within their communities and assist with your transition to life as a successful college student.

Second-year and Beyond

Apartments

Once you have a year or two as a Billiken under your belt, you may be ready for a taste of more independent living. You don’t have to leave campus to move into your first apartment though, as Saint Louis University offers four apartment-style living options for undergraduate students:

These partially-furnished residences feature full kitchens, so you can take responsibility for making your own meals ... or you can ease into the business of groceries and cooking by purchasing a dining Flex Plan that gives you a set amount to spend at on-campus dining facilities.

Greek Housing

DeMattias Hall is a traditional on-campus residence hall geared toward the needs of students who are members of recognized sororities, fraternities and multicultural Greek organizations. Along with community lounges on each floor, there are fraternity and sorority chapter rooms, as well as space for outdoor socializing.

Graduate Students

Our on-campus graduate housing options, Robert May Hall and Ignacio Hall, are designed exclusively for graduate students, offering the ideal environment for both academic focus and personal well-being. Additionally, both graduate and undergraduate students are eligible to live in Village Apartments.

Designated for graduate, law and medical students only, Robert May Hall is immediately adjacent to SLU's North Campus. You get the independence of apartment living with proximity to SLU's campus, the Billiken Shuttle service and Grand Center.

Ignacio Hall is exclusively for graduate, law and medical students, offering both single occupancy rooms with private bathrooms. The building features spacious loft-style windows, marble bathrooms, and an industrial communal kitchen.
